• Built Laravel backend services that run structural engineering calculations for residential solar (PV) systems — racking, roof framing, and lateral stability.
• Turned installer inputs (address, building, terrain, array layout) into validated calculation packets, IEBC letters, and stamped plan-set deliverables.
• Supported the B2B portal workflow: project create/track, file uploads, prepaid credits, and automated PDF / email delivery of engineering packages.
• Designed reusable Laravel services so wind, snow, seismic, and dead-load rules could be applied consistently across US jurisdictions.
• Laravel backend engineer — calculation engine, business rules, APIs, payments/credits, and document generation for the PZSE Portal.
• Encoded complex solar structural logic (flush-mount PV, racking anchorage, roof members, lateral checks) into maintainable Laravel services instead of one-off spreadsheets.
• Mapped site data from Google geolocation + terrain/building inputs into the correct load combinations for each project.
• Generated consistent PDF outputs — calculation packages, IEBC letters, and collated plan sets — with data validation before engineering review/stamp.
• Integrated prepaid portal credits, emails, and file exchange so installers could submit, track, and receive stamps without manual back-and-forth.
Technologies Used: PHP, Laravel, MySQL, REST APIs, PDF generation, Google Maps geolocation, payment/credit billing.
Methodology: Agile methodology with daily Scrum meetings and 2-week sprints.
PZSE Structural Engineers (Roseville, California, since 1987) provides structural and photovoltaic engineering nationwide. The PZSE Portal is a B2B SaaS platform where solar installers create projects, track them in real time, and receive turnkey residential solar plans with structural and electrical stamps. The product covers rooftop PV, equipment anchorage, battery energy storage (BESS), commercial solar, and telecom — with a dashboard that centralizes proposals, uploads, change orders, and communications.
As a Laravel backend engineer I implemented the calculation and delivery pipeline behind the portal: taking a project (address, structure, terrain, PV layout), running structural checks for racking-to-roof anchorage, framing, and lateral stability, then producing IEBC letters and full calculation packets. I also worked on APIs, prepaid credit/payment flows, email notifications, and import/export of engineering documents (PDF and related formats) so stamped packages could be returned through the portal quickly and reliably.
01. Solar Structural Calculation Engine: Laravel services that evaluate flush-mount PV loading — racking anchorage, roof members, and lateral stability — using client-supplied site data and applicable structural criteria.
02. IEBC Letters & Stamped Packages: Backend generation of IEBC evaluation letters and collated plan sets, then delivery of stamped PDFs back to the installer via the portal or email.
03. Project Intake & Geolocation: Create-project flow with address geolocation (Google Maps), building description, and surrounding terrain — including coordinate fallback when a new address is not yet in Maps.
04. Portal Credits, Files & Teams: Prepaid credit balance, project dashboard, file uploads, change orders, and organization accounts (admin vs. submitter roles) so solar companies can run many jobs in one place.
05. Beyond Rooftop PV: Same platform pattern for equipment anchorage, BESS, electrical fault-study stamps, and commercial / telecom structural work — not only residential solar.
